No Dress Code for PS6?
by Micaela G.
Lately, I have seen lots of kids on the street with uniforms, which has made me wonder about PS6 and if it’s good to have a dress code or not. I asked Gabriella from class 5-302 and heard what she had to say about this.
Gabriella thinks that not having a dress code at PS6 is a good idea. “It gives kids the freedom that they want to express themselves. It also comes with a ton of responsibility.” I agree with her because you have to understand that you can’t wear something that “shows too much skin.” Gabriella also told me that there are some disadvantages to not having a dress code. For instance, if there wasn’t a dress code then you couldn’t bully someone about what they are wearing (not that you should tease somebody in the first place.) Gabriella finally said that if she ran a school she would choose to have both. She wouldn’t have a dress code but she would have a requirement for how long skirts and shorts could be. I would most likely do the same.
What do you think? Do you think that dress codes should be a requirement? Or do your clothes give you style? I think that your clothes show who you are!
