Journalism with Ms. Bader
by Neve C.
I like journalism with Ms. Bader. It is fun and helps develop a great passion for writing. I like to interview other people and write my articles on what they said. Ms. Bader lets us talk with our friends while we work, and I thank her for that. It is fun to be able to play and talk with your friends, and it sometimes helps you find some good ideas. It is really easy to write an article because it is made out of seven simple steps:
1. Find a topic.
2. Start writing your article.
3. Have an interview (if needed).
4. Write your interview in your article (if you have one).
5. Finish your article.
6. Give it to Ms. Bader so she can upload it on the website.
7. Let the world see your talent in writing!
I decided to write this article to let you know about the joy of being in newspaper. I am going to interview Ms. Bader and Laura Y. to talk about newspaper.
Ms. Bader…
1.When did you start newspaper?
Ms. Bader: I think I started it about 3 or 4 years ago.
Comment: Ms. Bader has been doing newspaper for a long time and it is successful.
2.Why did you start newspaper?
Ms. Bader: Well, I was told to start an enrichment program for kids who need an extra challenge instead of extra help. So, I thought of newspaper.
Comment: Since she came up with the idea, she has everything planned and this in good for kids who want an extra challenge.
3.How do you feel about the newspaper extended day?
Ms. Bader: It is actually one of my favorite times of the week. I like it because the kids work very independently when usually I have to guide every single person so that they understand what is going on when a class comes to the library. But in newspaper, it magically happens on its own.
Comment: This proves that Ms. Bader really likes newspaper and enjoys it a lot.
So that was the interview with Ms. Bader. Now let’s go to Laura!
Laura…
1. Why did you sign up for newspaper?
Laura: I actually just signed up because my teacher asked me and I was free on Mondays.
2. Do you like newspaper?
Laura: I like it. I like it because it’s an extra class that allows me to write from my own point of view all by myself.
3. Does newspaper make you feel like you have an even bigger voice?
Laura: Well, yeah. And since it is on the school website, people will actually see it.
4. Do you feel like you can still talk with your friends, even if you are working?
Laura: Yes, like I was talking to Rachel while I was typing and Ms. Bader didn’t intervene.
So that’s all I have to say about newspaper. If you like this article, you will like newspaper!
