ELA and Math Test: Yes or No?
by Teddy B.
ELA, ELA,ELA. Isn’t this the focus around the end of the year? So much stress is put on these 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders each year to complete the test that is only 3 days per week in two weeks. Plus, the most a section of the test would go on for is one hour and 30 mins., and trust me, that’s not that long. So why prepare for months while the real test is an hour a day for six days? That’s not even a whole week.
Preparing isn’t the only issue with the ELA. It’s kind-of worthless. Instead of taking a worthless test why doesn't the NYSED just compare our grades? Also, if the chancellor isn’t a fan of it, then why doesn't she try to change that rule? She should have some kind of power to stop it! People mostly do what their guts tell them to do so why doesn’t she just ask mayor de Blasio if this could happen. I mean, if it will make tons of kids happy just do it!
Also, why don’t more kids parents/legal guardian just refuse the test to be taken by their child? It’s not that hard. Some evidence to support this is that many parents refused the test this year but many who still hate it are refusing the option of their child not taking the test. Let me tell those parents something: it’s a foolish test that will definetly not affect your chances at getting into a middle school. This is why you should stand up for yourself and say no to the ELA and math tests.
I’m Teddy B. and this is what I think of the ELA and math tests. Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
