Why Do 4th and 5th Graders Have Media Instead of Library and Computers?
by Olivia M.
4th and 5th graders this year have started something new at PS6: media. Media is a mixture of library and computers that Ms. Bader runs in the library. They do things that younger grades do in library, as well as the things they do in computers. Even though there are only a few computers in the library, we use laptops and iPads. I interviewed Ms. Bader and Mr. Silverstein on this topic to see what they thought about it.
In my interview with Ms. Bader she said that it was easier to stay in the library instead of running up and down the stairs between the computer lab and the library. So for her, and also in my opinion, media is better for her.
I also interviewed Mr. Silverstien to see his opinion on this topic. His opinion was very similar to Ms. Bader's.
My opinion on this is that it is a good way to teach kids about how people are using libraries and the media today.
