Time Conflicts
by Isabella A.
As a student, what kinds of lunch clubs or activities do you have during your lunch period? I for one, go to the library, have yearbook, Eco Center lunch, and math club during lunchtime every week. As most kids know, you might not be able to go to all of these things. One common example was deciding which meant more: Math Team or the highly popular Yearbook that started later in the year. Is it fair to students to be unable to join a club simply because the teachers have changed the day even if the kids were misinformed and then had to change their time plans? At first I myself had planned to stay on math team, but then out of the blue the yearbook was moved to Tuesday and I like many other kids were forced to make a choice.
I think that kids should be given more of a choice as to what they want to go to and how many activities they may plan to attend to during lunchtime throughout the week. Some of the activities should be kept on different days and NOT moved around. For example, usually lunch activities are not held as much on Mondays and Fridays, so maybe next year things should be held more on those days.
Now let’s hear what student Hannah A. thinks about this…
Q1) Do you have trouble with timing of lunch activities sometimes?
A1) Yes, I do have problems with the timing of activities during lunchtime.
Q2) If so then, what activities and when or why is it a problem?
A) I agree with you and especially about the Yearbook. I also have the same problem with my activities.
Q3) Do you think that these time conflicts are a major problem?
A3) Yes, this is because kids should be able to have more freedom and go where they want to during lunchtime.
Q4) If so then what should be changed?
A4) I noticed that Mondays and Fridays as you said before are usually free so more activities should be spread out to those days.
Think to yourself: what time conflicts do you have? As a student what is your opinion on this? Thank you.
