Ms. Gallaso
by Andrew Z. and Jack Z.
Ms. Gallaso is P.S.6’s new assistant principal. We asked her some questions in an interview and we found out one thing: P.S.6 is in good hands with our new principal. With 27 years of experience in teaching, she knows how to work in a school. Read this article to find out more about the person whose name will now appear on the PS6 letterhead along with Ms. Fontana’s and Ms. Santucci’s.
New assistant principal Ms. Gallaso is going to still try and keep up being the math coach. This was her job before being promoted. She also did bus announcements at the end of every regular school days and Extended Days. When asked about doing the bus announcement she said she doesn’t mind doing the job. She likes working at our school. “Why?” we ask. “I like helping children learn and I like working with the teachers to help them know what to learn.”
Before being the math coach, she was a teacher for first grade and also did math intervention. Math intervention is something that helps students with their math. She also has kids and so she was familiar with the middle school process. “I know a lot about schools,” said Ms. Gallaso. So fourth graders are lucky to get some advice about their upcoming middle school process: talk to fifth graders who have and are going through the process right now. Also, talk to sixth graders at the school you are looking at for more information, she advised.
All in all, Ms. Gallaso seems fit for the job of assistant principal. If you need to ask her anything you can find her in her office with Ms. Rosenblum on the second floor. Thanks for reading.
